TIER I

TIER I Engages best practices and a rigorous instruction for all students with well-designed differentiated teaching and learning strategies.  Teacher needs to meet the individual's needs to the best of their ability.

Universal Screening is for all students.  This gives you a snap shot of the students that you want to monitor more closely during the next step.

When TIER I classroom instruction is truly differentiated using a variety of strategies, fewer students are identified for TIER II.

Fidelity Check is when you invite another teacher and/or administrator to come into your classroom and watch you teach.

  • Look for's:
  • Good teaching method?
  • Dosage - Is the student getting enough of the intervention?  Check what he/she is using.
  • Observe student - How does the student respond?  Example:  cooperative, bored, oppositional, etc...?
